Cotton Market 40 to 56 Points Lower Overnight

Cotton futures are currently 41 to 56 points lower ahead of the weekly export sales report and the China trade negotiations. They posted 4 to 87 cents losses in the front months on Wednesday, with thinly traded Oct up 4 points. Pressure is coming from the Trade War front. Tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods are scheduled to rise to 25% on Friday, although that could be delayed with suitable progress in the trade negotiations. The weekly Average World Price (AWP) is 68.27 cents/lb, effective through Thursday. The Cotlook A index was down 180 points from the previous day on May 7 at 83.15 cents/lb.
