Cotton Higher on Monday

Cotton futures were firm to 96 points higher in most contracts on Monday. July was up 308 points in thin trade as shorts were getting squeezed with July in Deliveries. US/China trade negotiators are going back to the table after last weekend’s Trump/Xi meetings. After the close, USDA reported 37% of the US cotton crop as squared, with 7% setting bolls, both 2% behind normal. Condition ratings were up 2% to 52% gd/ex, with the Brugler500 up 2 points to 336. The Cotlook A index for June 27 was down 20 points from the previous day to 77.00 cents/lb. The weekly Average World Price (AWP) from USDA was updated to 58.32 cents/lb through next Thursday, down 82 points from the previous week.

OCT 19 Cotton closed at 65.76, up 1 point

DEC 19 Cotton closed at 66.54, up 46 points

MAR 20 Cotton closed at 67.65, up 96 points
