Cotton in the Green at Midday

Cotton futures are 47 to 94 points higher in most contracts on Monday, disregarding thinly traded October. Rain in parts of northern TX and other parts of the Cotton Belt may slow cotton planting this week. CFTC data on Friday afternoon showed specs in cotton futures and options at their largest reported net short position since Feb 2007 at 24,828 contracts as of Tuesday. The Cotlook A index for May 17 was up 50 points from the previous day to 77.35 cents/lb. The weekly Average World Price (AWP) is now 59.59 cents/lb, down 5.06 cents from last week.

Jul 19 Cotton is at 66.93, up 94 points,

Oct 19 Cotton is at 65.99, down 40 points

Dec 19 Cotton is at 66.9, up 52 points

Mar 20 Cotton is at 67.850, up 47 points
